Thank you for dropping by my website. Below is a little about me:
I hold a doctoral degree in Psychology from California Southern University and a masters degree in Psychology from California Coast university, a Graduate Certificate in Executive Healthcare Leadership from Cornell University, and an MBA in Health Care Management from California Coast University. In my community behavioral health career, I have been a Clinician, a Clinical Director, an Operations Director, and am currently a Chief Executive Officer. My behavioral health experience has been in community mental health centers, as well as private practice.
I have maintained a forensic behavioral health practice for over 25 years. I have helped attorneys, law enforcement agencies, and private citizens with many different cases over the years, e.g., family law cases, competency, professional standards of practice in mental health, mental health ethics, child abuse, Intellectual Disabilities, wrongful death, officer involved shootings (Fitness for Duty), custody, and many more.
I have taught college level courses as an Adjunct Professor at a Community College. As an Adjunct Professor I taught Introduction to Psychology, Developmental Psychology, Abnormal Psychology, Introduction to Philosophy, and Introduction to Sociology courses. I have also conducted workshops for the last 15 years on topics such as ethics, leadership, forensic mental health, suicide, and school shootings. I also love integrating my love of history into my workshops to make them fun, and interesting.
As a passionate advocate for behavioral health and those who suffer from it, I love getting involved in my local community and in State legislative affairs concerning behavioral health. I am an active member of Rotary, as well as frequent volunteer in community events promoting good mental health. I serve on several community Board, including the Providence Hospital, The Housing Resource Center, and the Lewis County United Way, among others. On a State level, I serve as a Board member for the Washington Council for Behavioral Health (WCBH). In addition, I Chair, and am a member of several committees for WCBH. I was a featured presenter at the 2017 Washington State Behavioral Health Conference. My workshop was entitled “Lessons in Leadership from the battle of Gettysburg”.
I hold a Licensed Mental Health Counselor credential in Washington State, and am a Geriatric Specialists, a Child Specialists, and Developmental Disabilities Specialists. I hold Licensed Professional Counselor credential in Colorado. I am an Approved Clinical Supervisor by the National Board for Certified Counselors Center for Credentialing and Education, I am a member of the Society for Police and Criminal Psychology.
On a personal note; while working in Colorado at Aurora Mental Health as a Crisis Services Clinician I had the privilege, and honor of working with the teachers, students, and families following the Columbine tragedy in April of 1999. I often describe my experience, when asked, working with individuals at Columbine High School this way:
The experience affected my personnel, and professional life in dramatic, and very profound ways. I will never forget the bravery and selfless sacrifice I witnessed by law enforcement officers, mental health professionals, teachers, students, and the families who I had the honor and privileged to help, and assist at Columbine. The people I met, the individuals I helped, and the things I witnessed, have forever shaped my behavioral health career, my understanding of the world, and my strong steadfast belief in the resiliency of the human spirit.
